The story behind
The song Ella tiene, with its 4:23 duration, immerses us in a sonic universe where rhythmic fusions are the protagonists. The artist behind this piece, Chichi Peralta, born in Santo Domingo, has woven a musical proposal that goes beyond traditional genres. From a very young age, at 4 years old, he demonstrated an innate connection with music, even building his first instrument. Throughout the 80s and 90s, his talent as a percussionist led him to collaborate with renowned groups such as Fernando Echavarría y la Familia André, Trilogía, and notably his 8-year tenure in 4.40 by Juan Luis Guerra.
Chichi Peralta's journey as a solo artist and producer began to take shape with the international release of his first album, Pa' Otro La'o, in 1997. In this work, he not only took on production and arrangements but also shared vocals with Jandy Feliz, who would later start his individual career. An important milestone arrived in 2000 with the release of his second album, De Vuelta Al Barrio. This album not only earned him a Latin Grammy but was also characterized by a bold mix of genres: son intertwined with jazz, merengue with guaguancó, pop with African influences, and bachata with Brazilian and Arabic rhythms. To bring this ambitious production to life, he enlisted the participation of the London Symphony Orchestra and the choirs of Luz Africa, with recording sessions held in Paris, France. Subsequently, in 2005, he presented Más que suficiente, an album that also received nominations for the Grammy and the Lo Nuestro award in 2006, becoming one of the best-selling Latin albums in Japan, according to data from the specialized chain Disk Union.
