The story behind
El Triunfo del Amor, according to DoReSol
This song was born in a time of trial, when Fito Páez was composing tracks for a soundtrack that never materialized. Recorded in 1988 as part of a demo called Novela, it remained stored among tapes that were later lost to time. What’s curious is that, although the original project never advanced, some of its melodies ended up on other albums years later, as if fate had decided its destiny. This particular piece, El Triunfo del Amor, has an exact duration of four minutes and thirty-two seconds, but its true value lies in how it survived the changes.
The recording context helps explain its raw sound: it was made with borrowed equipment and under precarious conditions, far from professional studios. Fito was working at the time in the underground scene of Rosario, where the Trova rosarina movement provided his first tools for composing. Later, his career took off with albums like Circo Beat (1994), which sold over a million copies, but this song in particular remained as a testament to those early steps. Though it never became as widely known as his later hits, its inclusion in the demo shows how Fito tested ideas that later matured in other contexts. In fact, the Premio Konex de Platino he won in 1995 for his work in the decade confirmed him as a key figure in Argentine rock.
