The story behind

The album El Deseo de Oír Tu Voz, released in January 1996, marked a milestone in Cristian Castro's career, being the last studio work under the Fonovisa Records label. This record, produced by Daniel Freiberg, included songs that resonated strongly on the popularity charts. A notable example is Morelia, a song that had previously served as the main theme for the telenovela of the same name and had already appeared on Castro's 1994 album, El Camino del Alma. The singles Amor and Amarte a Ti reached the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and Billboard Latin Pop Airplay charts during 1996, demonstrating the musical impact of the project. Cristian Castro, whose real name is Cristian Sainz Valdés Castro, was born in Mexico City in 1974. He comes from a family with a deep connection to the entertainment world; he is the son of the renowned actress Verónica Castro and actor Manuel "El Loco" Valdés. His artistic heritage extends to uncles like José Alberto "El Güero" Castro, a telenovela producer, and the celebrated comedian Germán Valdés, known as Tin Tán, as well as Ramón Valdés, remembered for his role as Don Ramón in El Chavo del Ocho. Growing up in an artistic environment, Cristian explored acting from a young age before dedicating himself fully to his great passion: singing, a discipline that would catapult him to international fame. Throughout his career, he has managed to place 29 of his songs at the top of Top Latin Songs, being recognized as the third most prominent Spanish-speaking singer in Billboard history, with estimated sales of nearly 12 million records and over 65 gold and 31 platinum records.
