The story behind
When recording Amarte a Ti, Mexican singer Cristian Castro was at a key point in his career. The song, released in 1996 as the second single from his album El Deseo de Oír Tu Voz, became a resounding success. It was written by Walter Arenzon and co-written and produced by Daniel Freiberg. The track was recorded in 1995 at Old House Studios in New York City, under the Melody label.
Amarte a Ti not only reached the top of the charts, but it also became Cristian Castro's third number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart and sixth on Latin Pop Airplay. Its impact was such that in 1997 it was recognized as one of the best-performing songs at the BMI Awards. The album it is from, El Deseo de Oír Tu Voz, released in January 1996 by Fonovisa Records, marked the end of his relationship with that label. This work also included the track Morelia, which had previously been the main theme of a telenovela and appeared on his 1994 album, El Camino del Alma. The original version of the song lasts 3:24, although MusicBrainz registers it with a slightly longer duration, 3:27.
