Échame a mi la culpa

When Luis Miguel embarked on the creation of México en la piel, his sixteenth studio album, he decided to explore a genre that would mark a before and after in his discography: mariachi. This work, released in November 2004, was his first formal foray into this style, featuring the collaboration of the renowned folk ensemble Vargas de Tecalitlán. The musical direction was led by Armando Manzanero, while Miguel himself took on the role of producer. The recording took place at Ocean Way Recording studios, located in Hollywood, California, during July of that same year. Several singles were released from this album, including Échame a Mí la Culpa, a piece that, with its 3 minutes and 10 seconds of duration, adds to the rich Mexican musical tradition.

The special edition of the album, titled México en la Piel: Edición Diamante, was released in September 2005, enriching the original proposal with two additional tracks and a DVD that included five music videos. Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in April 1970, is a well-established figure in Hispanic American music, known for his versatility in genres such as pop, funk, jazz, bolero, and, of course, mariachi. Throughout his career, he has been awarded five Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammy Awards, solidifying his position as one of the most influential and recognized Latin artists by the American academy.
