The story behind
The version of Cuándo found on the album Quién Dijo Ayer is a reinterpretation of a previous song, but with a different approach. This new rendition, which lasts 4 minutes and 45 seconds, was recorded as part of a larger project to revisit past hits. The full album, released on August 17, 2007, was an initiative by Ricardo Arjona to explore his best-known songs through different musical styles, inviting other artists to collaborate. It was a turning point, as it marked the end of his tenure with Sony Music before joining Warner Music Group.
This project for Quién Dijo Ayer was conceived with the production of Arjona himself, along with Tommy Torres, Dan Warner, and Lee Levin. The idea was to present re-recorded versions, giving them a renewed feel and exploring diverse genres. To achieve this, figures such as Panteón Rococó, Marc Anthony, Fernando Otero, Sandro, Marta Sánchez, and Eros Ramazzotti joined, each contributing their particular touch to the songs. Overall, this compilation work received favorable comments from music critics, standing out as one of the most interesting discographic projects by the Guatemalan singer-songwriter.
