The story behind
Colabore, according to DoReSol
Collaborate by La Vela Puerca sounds like one of those songs that sneaks up on you. The bassline traces a repeating line with precision, while the trumpets enter with a festive yet controlled air, as if ska and rock were shaking hands without arguing. The drums set a rhythm that doesn’t get carried away by enthusiasm, and Sebastián Teysera’s voice —“el Enano”— flows between narrative and sung delivery without forcing it. It’s the kind of song you hum without realizing, even before knowing what it’s about. They recorded it over two months, between November and December 2006, moving between studios: Panda Studios in Buenos Aires, IFU in Montevideo, and Casa Blanca in Atlántida.
The process wasn’t easy: they mixed it in February 2007, and the mastering was completed in Los Angeles, handled by Tom Baker. Juan Campodónico oversaw the artistic production, giving it that balance between energy and clarity that defines the album El Impulso. The song itself lasts 3 minutes and 16 seconds —just enough time for the message —whatever it may be— not to fade away.
