The story behind
Bunkhouse Theme, according to DoReSol
The track *Bunkhouse Theme* is an instrumental piece that is part of the 1973 album, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid. This record was conceived as the soundtrack for the film of the same name directed by Sam Peckinpah. Bob Dylan himself participated in the film, playing a character named "Alias". The music on the album, largely instrumental, was directly inspired by the film's scenes and atmosphere. Within this work is *Knockin' on Heaven's Door*, a track that achieved notable success, reaching the top 20 charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The album Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid was certified gold by the RIAA and reached number 16 in the United States and number 29 in the United Kingdom.
The connection of Bob Dylan to the project arose through Rudy Wurlitzer, the film's screenwriter, who already knew the artist. Wurlitzer asked Dylan to compose some songs for the film. Dylan presented his interpretation of the piece *Billy* to director Peckinpah, who was impressed. The recording of this album, which includes the track *Bunkhouse Theme* with a duration of 2:16, was supervised by producer Gordon Carroll, with Dan Wallin as recording engineer.
