The story behind
The song A las nueve, by No Te Va Gustar, was released as a preview of their seventh album, El calor del pleno invierno. This album, released in 2012, marked a milestone for the Uruguayan band by reaching the number one spot in sales in both their native country and Argentina. The production was handled by Federico Lima and Sebastián Peralta, and featured guest vocal collaborations from musicians such as Fernando Ruiz Díaz, Gabriel Pelupo, Jorge Serrano, and Germán Daffunchio. The album also received recognition with nominations at the Latin Grammy Awards and the Graffiti Awards in 2013.
El calor del pleno invierno is No Te Va Gustar's first studio work after the passing of their keyboardist Marcel Curuchet, who died in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike Extension. The band, formed in Montevideo in 1994, has evolved by incorporating rhythms such as reggae, candombe, ska, and murga into their rock sound. Initially a trio with Emiliano Brancciari, Mateo Moreno, and Pablo Abdala, the lineup expanded in 1997. The band's name, in fact, originated from a casual response when asked for their name, ultimately becoming No Te Va Gustar.
