Paiko

Paiko is an Paraguayan band of rock with touches of Latin pop, born in Asunción in 1999. Its style is fresh, with a lot of energy live, and mixes elements of Latin American music with a base of pop rock. What catches the eye is how they manage to make traditional songs sound modern, without losing their essence.

At first, the band went to the United States, stayed for some time in Miami and worked as musicians on television programs like *Sábado Gigante* and *The Show of Cristina*. That gave them money to keep going and start playing in clubs. Over time, they realized they wanted to do something of their own and started working on Paiko.

More about Paiko

Biography

In 2000, they returned to Paraguay and released their first album, Al Natural. The song that stood out was a version of the guarania Kurusu Vera, which appeared in a famous short. They also had success with other songs like Caen or Sexterday. What's interesting is that all the album was sung by Neine Heisecke, who later led the group Deliverans.

That album was a hit. For the first time, a Paraguayan band managed to be in the top places of the radios and win awards. It opened up a path for other artists and changed the way local music was seen. With that, Paiko became an important reference for many.

Later, in 2002, they hired Mario Breuer, an Argentine producer who gave them a different sound on their second album, Azules y Desiertos. In 2004, they created their own label, Zumba Records, and released Impulsivamente, which allowed them to reach the equivalent of gold. That was unusual for Paraguayan rock.
