Flou

Flou is a band that started in Asunción, Paraguay, in 2000. Its sound mixes things from Nu Metal and Alternative Metal, and has influences of bands like Deftones or Alice in Chains. From the beginning, the band adapted, changing its style and members, which ultimately defined its current form.

In March 2000, Walter Cabrera, Bruno Ferreiro, Federico Wagener, Ariel Sandoval and Ariel Insfrán joined to form the band. A month later, they were already recording their first material, thinking of spreading it through radios and pubs. The people reacted well, so they decided to make another studio and release a demo called *Despertar*, with five of their own songs. They put it on sale at the end of the month, and it sold out in three months. They did shows in known places in Asunción, such as Mr. Jones or El Bosque de Barnie, to promote it.

More about Flou

Biography

The impact was great, and soon the band won an important place in the local scene. With that, they decided to launch their first independent album and do several shows with a lot of people. In December of that year, they organized an international show, inviting Cabezones from Argentina, and recorded a video clip that later included in their material.

The record label Kamikaze Records noticed them and put them in the studio in 2003 to record their first LP, *Ataraxia*. The album had bases of Nu Metal and Melodic Rock, and included the same songs from the demo, but improved. Before starting, Ariel Insfrán left the band, and the rhythm guitar passed to the vocalist, Walter Cabrera. So, Flou went from being a quintet to a quartet.

The launch was at the Centro Cultural de la Ciudad de Asunción, in La Manzana de la Rivera, halfway through that year. They did shows in Asunción and interior cities, promoting the album first with Kamikaze and then independently. The LP became a favorite among many young people, with songs that transmitted rage and lyrics that identified with the audience. Over time, Flou's fans helped grow the band, something uncommon in the Paraguayan scene.
