Marcos Witt

Marcos Witt, known also as Jonathan Mark Witt Holder, was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1962. His music and way of living have made him an important figure in the Christian world. His voice, his message and his way of touching people's hearts have led him to perform in many places, always with the same spirit: that of a man who believes in something greater than himself.

His life was not easy from the beginning. His father, Jerry Witt, died in an accident when Marcos was only three years old. The family moved to Durango, Mexico, where his mother, Nola, started a missionary work. Although the work did not turn out as they expected, the faith continued. Later, Nola married Francisco Warren, who helped raise Marcos and follow his father's vision. That man formed him as a Christian, taught him to play the guitar and to sing.

Biography

At 18, Marcos was already leading a congregation in San Antonio. He studied music in Durango, then at the Universidad Juárez and in Nebraska. He also studied theology. In 1986 he married Miriam Lee, a Canadian, and together they had four children. In 2012 he had an accident in the water that left him voiceless for months. But he returned to singing, as if nothing had happened. In 2015, at a concert in Chaco, he said that his voice returned thanks to God. And he presented a new album, *Sigues Siendo Dios*.

In 1987 he founded CanZion Producciones, a company dedicated to producing Christian music in Spanish. His first album, *Canción a Dios*, was released in 1986, and he was the one who sang it. That year he won an award as Male Vocalist of the Year. But it was in 1991, with the album *Proyecto AA*, that his music reached more people. One of his songs, *Renuévame*, won the Composition of the Year award in 1992. His music continues to be part of the lives of many people.
