More about Jaime Murrell
Biography
The definitive leap came in 1993, when he joined Marcos Witt in the production of Grandes Son Tus Maravillas [Great Are Your Wonders]. The recording almost did not happen: a thunderstorm halted preparations at the Cathedral of the People in Miami, but that waiting time was filled with spontaneous music that ended up defining the album. The record became a phenomenon in the United States and Latin America, and from there it never stopped: in 1997 he recorded Déjame que te alabe [Let Me Praise You] in El Paso, Texas, and the following year he took his voice to Torreón, Mexico, with Quiero alabar [I Want to Praise]—including even an English version recorded in Lusaka, Zambia. His ministry crossed borders, but always with the same essence: music as a bridge between the divine and the human. In 2001 and 2004, his works brought him to the Dove Awards and the Premios Arpa, but those recognitions were merely echoes of something greater: having made a song not just a track, but an encounter.
