Iron Maiden

After many tours across the United Kingdom, in 1979 the band released an EP called The Soundhouse Tapes, and in 1980, their debut album of the same name, which reached fourth place on the UK charts without major promotional efforts.That year, Stratton was replaced by the guitarist Adrian Smith, with whom they released the album Killers (1981). After the departure of Di Anno, that same year, Bruce Dickinson entered as the vocalist for the album The Number of the Beast of 1982, which reached number one on the UK charts, marking the beginning of a series of impactful releases.By 1983 the band released the album Piece of Mind, which introduced the replacement of the drummer Clive Burr by Nicko McBrain.

From then on, they solidified their most successful lineup, which has performed numerous tours. Iron Maiden has recorded 17 studio albums and is considered one of the most influential bands not only for metal and its respective subgenres, but for various groups of rock and other styles.The history of Iron Maiden begins in 1971, when Steve Harris, inspired by bands such as The Who, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Genesis, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple, among others, purchased an imitation Fender Precision Bass for about 40 pounds sterling, and after abandoning the option of drums, for which he did not have space.

Harris also had the dream of being a football player for West Ham, however, an injury made him start dedicating all his efforts to his other great passion, music. This led to the formation of a musical group called Gypsy's Kiss in 1972, whose first concert was at the mythical venue Cart & Horses in Maryland Point, Stratford. After a few concerts under the name of Gypsy's Kiss, Harris decided to create the project Smiler, whose members were a few years older than him, which helped him gain experience. Despite this, Harris wanted to express his compositional ideas more, and the rest of the band rejected his compositions, considering them «too complicated».

This made the bassist quit Smiler and decide to form a new group where he would have control over composition.
