Cream

The music of Cream is distinguished by its fusion of blues, psychedelic rock, and a touch of pop, creating a unique sound that left its mark on the music scene of the late 1960s. Formed in 1966 in London, the band consisted of bassist and vocalist Jack Bruce, guitarist and vocalist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker. This trio is frequently recognized as one of the first supergroups in history, despite their brief career of just over two years, during which they managed to sell over fifteen million records worldwide.

The history of Cream is marked by the pursuit of an innovative sound that broke with the established. Clapton, already known for his guitar virtuosity, left his previous band to join Baker, who in turn had the idea of forming a new group. Clapton's condition for joining was that Bruce, with whom he had worked previously, would be the bassist. Despite their past differences, both musicians decided to put aside their conflicts for the sake of the new project. The name Cream was chosen because they considered themselves the "cream of the crop" of jazz and blues musicians in Great Britain, and their debut at the Sixth Annual Windsor Jazz & Blues Festival marked the beginning of a career that, although brief, would be influential.
