Commodores

The Commodores began in Detroit in 1968, four guys who studied together at an art school. Soon they signed with Motown, a label that already had a reputation. In a few years, they were playing things that moved, with rhythms that made you vibrate.

They sang songs that reached your heart, like Still or Three Times A Lady, but they also did funk that made you move your body. Brick House or Say Yeah were like a party on the record. In the 70s, they released some albums that became references, like Caught in the Act or Movin' On. Later they became more mellow, as if they had decided to change their rhythm.

Biography

Lionel Richie left in 1982, and they were left without their main voice. Other singers appeared, but the group never became the same again. Although they won a Grammy for Nightshift, a track that reminded you of other artists. Over time, the originals started to leave one by one. In the end, the group moved away from funk and got into other types of music, more commercial.
