Biography
But it was Mi Primer Millón —that ironic song about the dream of success— that climbed into the top 20 and earned them another Latin Grammy, this time for Best Tropical Song. The album also took them to perform on Late Night With Conan O'Brien in 2005, a detail that shows how their sound crossed borders without losing its identity.Next came Sin Vergüenza, recorded between Brazil and Miami and produced by Tom Capone and Juan Vicente Zambrano. The lead single, Pasos de Gigante, reached number 1 in Argentina and number 2 in Chile, and although it didn't win the Grammy, it confirmed they could dominate the charts without repeating themselves.
Their split in 2007 —with a final show at the Viña del Mar Festival— left them as one of those bands that captured a moment but didn't need to stay in it.The reunion in 2017 brought ¿Donde Nos Quedamos? and later Abecedario, where they reworked Caraluna with Carlos Vives and Tabaco Y Chanel with Morat. Their latest work, Pequeños Romances, bridges Villamizar's solo phase with those songs that were already classics. The curious thing is that, no matter the era, their music still sounds like a journey: from Miami to Buenos Aires, from Cuban son to bossa, but always with that acoustic guitar that defines them.
