The story behind
The song *Whoop Your Ass* is 3 minutes long and is notable for being one of the collaborations that catapulted the career of Snoop Dogg. This track, released in 1992, was part of Dr. Dre's debut album, titled The Chronic. The recording of this album took place in the studios of Death Row Records in Los Angeles, and also included sessions at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood.
This album marked an important moment for Dr. Dre, as it was his first solo work after leaving the group N.W.A and their label, Ruthless Records. On The Chronic, direct references can be found towards Ruthless Records and its owner. Snoop Dogg's participation in this project was fundamental, serving as a platform to launch his own musical career. It is worth mentioning that Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known artistically as Snoop Dogg, already had a past in the Crips gang and had faced legal troubles before his musical career took off in 1992, the year Dr. Dre discovered him and began collaborating with him.
