The story behind
Voices, according to DoReSol
The song *Voices* by Roxette, with its 4:42 duration, is a piece that invites reflection and sonic immersion. The Swedish duo, formed by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, who already had individual careers in their country, built a particular atmosphere in this track. Per Gessle, who had already achieved success with his previous band Gyllene Tider, contributes the melodic sensibility that would characterize the duo in this song. The musical structure and Fredriksson's vocal performance are key elements to understanding the essence of *Voices*.
This track is part of Roxette's debut album, titled Pearls of Passion. Originally, the record was released on cassette and vinyl in 1986 in Scandinavia and Canada. Later, in 1997, a remastered CD version was presented that included previously unreleased additional material, and a new reissue took place in 2009. The production of Pearls of Passion featured the collaboration of Clarence Öfwerman as producer, while Alar Suurna and Robert Wellerfors were in charge of the recording engineering. Per Andersson's work as arranger was also fundamental in the sonic configuration of the album and, therefore, of songs like *Voices*.
