The story behind
Tu nombre, according to DoReSol
The story behind *Tu nombre*, one of the most recognized songs by No Te Va Gustar, has an origin as curious as its very title. The band, which was formed in Montevideo in 1994, was looking for a name that would identify them. At one point, when asked what they were called, they responded with a simple "no te va gustar", a phrase that ended up sticking and giving the group its identity. This anecdote, which reveals a playful and somewhat rebellious spirit from the very beginning, intertwines with the band’s evolving sound, which since 1997 has incorporated influences from rhythms like reggae, candombe, ska, and murga, as well as the roots of Argentine and Uruguayan rock, and the inspiration from bands like Oasis and The Beatles.
The lineup of No Te Va Gustar has grown and solidified over the years. Initially a trio with Emiliano Brancciari on guitar, Mateo Moreno on bass, and Pablo Abdala on drums, the band expanded to include musicians such as Guzmán Silveira on bass and backing vocals, Diego Bartaburu on drums, Gonzalo Castex on percussion, Martín Gil on trumpet and backing vocals, Denis Ramos on trombone, Mauricio Ortiz on tenor saxophone, Pablo Coniberti on guitar, and Francisco Nasser on keyboards. This diversity of instruments and talents has been key to crafting the distinctive sound that can be heard in songs like *Tu nombre*, which has a duration of 4:25.
