The story behind
The song Esta plaga by No Te Va Gustar, with its duration of 2 minutes and 55 seconds, unfolds with an energy that invites immersion in its rhythm. From its beginnings, the band has sought to fuse different musical currents, taking Uruguayan popular music and Argentine rock as a starting point, without neglecting the influence of references such as Oasis and The Beatles. This mix becomes palpable in the way they construct their songs, exploring rhythms ranging from reggae and candombe to ska and murga, which gives their sound a particular identity.
The journey of No Te Va Gustar began in Montevideo in 1994, initially as a trio. Over time, the lineup expanded, adding wind instruments and keyboards, which further enriched their sonic palette. The band's name, in fact, arose from a curious anecdote: when asked what their name was, they replied "no te va gustar" (you won't like it), referring to a previous name they preferred to keep secret. The response was amusing and, as they gained recognition, they adopted that name definitively.
