Fun facts

Pink Floyd released Time in 1973, as the fourth track of The Dark Side of the Moon. The song was released as a single in the United States, and the lyrics were written by the bassist Roger Waters. In the track, David Gilmour and the keyboardist Richard Wright took turns on the choruses, as a dialogue between guitar and keyboards that intertwine without losing the rhythm.

The story behind

Pink Floyd released Time in 1973, as part of The Dark Side of the Moon. The song opens with the sound of clocks and alarms, recorded by Alan Parsons in an antique shop. The sounds were aligned in the studio to form the beginning of the track.

The song closes with a version of Breathe, with different lyrics. At the beginning, a riff from Shine On You Crazy Diamond is used, which joins with the sound of a plane and the ticking of clocks. At the end, Breathe is repeated to transition into the next track on the album. The piece lasts 7 minutes and 3 seconds.
