The story behind

The Game of Love, according to DoReSol

The essence of *The Game of Love* lies in its exploration of the artificial voice. The creators, Thomas Bangalter and Guy‐Manuel de Homem‐Christo, set out to give vocoder-processed voices a human quality, seeking emotion in what is unnatural but strives to be so. It is a game of sonic mirrors, where the machine attempts to imitate the human, and in that pursuit, creates something entirely new. The piece has a duration of 5:21, a sonic canvas for this fascinating duality.

This track is part of *Random Access Memories*, the French duo's fourth and final studio album. The recording of this album spanned between 2008 and 2012, covering studios in California such as Henson, Conway, and Capitol Studios, as well as Electric Lady Studios in New York City and Gang Recording Studio in Paris, France. Unlike the more austere production of their previous album, *Human After All* (2005), for *Random Access Memories* they enlisted session musicians to perform live instruments, limiting the use of purely electronic elements. The album itself pays homage to American music from the late 70s and early 80s, with a particular focus on the Los Angeles sound.
