The story behind
The track *Tell It! (remix)*, with its 3:35 runtime, emerges as a key piece in Snoop Dogg's trajectory, serving as a launchpad for his solo career. This cut was conceived at a crucial moment, following Dr. Dre's departure from N.W.A and the founding of his own label, Death Row Records. The recording sessions were split between the studios of Death Row Records in Los Angeles and the space at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. The album containing this song, titled The Chronic, was released on December 15, 1992, with distribution handled by Priority Records and backing from Interscope Records.
The connection between Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg was solidified on this project. Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known artistically as Snoop Dogg (and also as Snoop Lion), a native of Long Beach and born in 1971, already had a past linked to the West Coast rap scene. Before his musical foray, he was part of the Crips gang and had experiences with the judicial system. His meeting with Dr. Dre, after his release in 1992, was decisive. He not only collaborated on tracks from Dr. Dre's debut album but also on the main song for the soundtrack of the film Deep Cover, demonstrating his potential from the outset.
