The story behind
Surrender, according to DoReSol
The song Surrender, released in 2002, is notable for reaching the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in the United States. This achievement was part of a strategy to introduce Laura Pausini to the American market. Shortly after, in 2003, the track was disseminated throughout Europe and Australia. A particularity of this piece is that, in 2013, the artist recorded a new interpretation for her compilation album 20 – The Greatest Hits, giving it a slower tempo. Surrender has been part of Laura Pausini's live performances on tours such as those in 2005, 2009, and the Inedito World Tour.
During the 2009 tour, the song's tempo was experimented with, creating an acoustic version reminiscent of the performance recorded in the San Siro concert video in 2007. However, the version included in the DVD of Inedito reverts to the danceable version, integrated into a medley alongside Bellissimo così. The composition of Surrender is attributed to Dane Deviller, Sean Hosein, Steven Smith, and Anthony Anderson. The album it comes from, From the Inside, was Laura Pausini's first studio album entirely in English, released in 2002.
