The story behind

Spies, according to DoReSol

The song Spies, included in Coldplay's debut album, Parachutes, immerses itself in an atmosphere that evokes spy cinema. The direct inspiration comes from the band's love for James Bond films and the music of their composer, John Barry, coinciding with the production of The World is Not Enough at the time this piece was being conceived. With a duration of 5:19, the song unfolds with a sonic depth that invites reflection.

Parachutes, released on July 10, 2000, in the United Kingdom by Parlophone and on November 7, 2000, in the United States through Nettwerk, was co-produced by Ken Nelson and the band themselves, with the exception of High Speed, which had the exclusive production of Chris Allison. The recording of Spies involved a team of recording engineers, including Simon “Barny” Barnicott, Jon Coles, Ken Nelson, Paul Read, and Andrea Wright, while the mixing was handled by Michael Brauer. The album, which also spawned singles such as Shiver, Yellow, Trouble, and Don't Panic, reached number one in the UK and was certified 9× Platinum.
