The story behind
So Far Away, according to DoReSol
The melody of So Far Away unfolds with a sense of longing, built on a harmonic foundation that evokes distance and reflection. The composition, by Hasse Huss and Per Gessle, was recorded with engineering by Alar Suurna and Robert Wellerfors, under the production of Clarence Öfwerman. The track, with a duration of 5:17, is part of Roxette's debut album, Pearls of Passion, originally released on cassette and vinyl in Scandinavia and Canada on October 31, 1986. This album was reissued on CD in 1997, including unreleased material, and again in 2009.
Roxette, the Swedish duo formed by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, already had solid careers in their country. Gessle, in particular, had achieved success with his previous band, Gyllene Tider, reaching three number-one albums in Sweden in the early eighties. After the dissolution of Gyllene Tider in 1984, his solo projects did not achieve the same level of commercial impact. Roxette's proposal, however, was oriented towards a sound closer to rock than that of other renowned Swedish groups, eventually selling 75 million records and singles worldwide.
