The story behind
The song siento tanto aquí by Kevin Kaarl begins with an air that feels heavier than the rest of the album. It's not just the lyrics, but how the sound stretches in the silences between chord and chord, as if each note drags something that never quite lets go. The track doesn't stay in the obvious: it's not a direct lament, but that kind of sadness that seeps through the cracks of a melody that seems to seek an exit but never quite finds it.
Kevin Kaarl recorded it in a room in Chihuahua with his brother Bryan Kaarl, using equipment that wasn't from a professional studio. The album came out without big labels, but the title already warned: Ultra Sodade takes a Cape Verdean word that speaks of a nostalgia that hurts and adds "ultra" in front, as if wanting to exaggerate that feeling. The songs were born after a breakup, and in this one in particular, it's clear there's no rush to heal wounds, but rather to let the pain settle in every note. The nearly six-minute duration isn't a coincidence: time here doesn't help resolve, it only accompanies.
