The story behind
The song dime by Kevin Kaarl is not just a long track — it's a conversation that stretches to 10 minutes and 43 seconds, as if time had stopped to let the words and chords breathe at their own pace. There is no rush in its structure, nor in its lyrics, nor in the silences between verses. Recorded in a home studio in Chihuahua, it sounds like an intimate confession, like those nights when questions repeat until the voice breaks or silence becomes more eloquent than any answer. The original title, Dime que siempre vamos a estar juntos, already hints at that obsession with time and permanence, but Kaarl flips it: he doesn’t ask for confirmation, but invites it to linger in the air, like an echo that never fades.
The album Ultra Sodade, released on February 14, 2025, was born out of heartbreak. Kaarl wrote each song after a breakup, but not as catharsis, rather as an exercise in slow reconstruction. He recorded it alongside his brother Bryan Kaarl in a home space, using digital tools and resources at hand. Bryan, who until then had been more of a support than a formal collaborator, took charge of production and mixing, shaping a sound that feels like analog tape and old microphones. They weren’t aiming to polish every note, but to capture something that already existed: the urgency of those hours when pain and nostalgia blend with the certainty that, in the end, only the echo of a "dime" remains.
