The song is taken from his second album, titled Directo al corazón, which was released in 1982. It was an album produced by his own father, Luisito Rey, and released through EMI Capitol Mexico. In certain cases, the title was changed to Un sol directo al corazón, and the cover image also evolved, replacing the original childlike figure with a more youthful, shirtless one. Even for the US market, under the Odeon label, the album was released under the name Un sol, while maintaining the selection and order of songs from the Mexican version.
