The story behind
Recuerdos encadenados, according to DoReSol
The song Recuerdos encadenados is one of those pieces that, while not the most well-known by Luis Miguel, carries a melancholic and direct air that resonates with listeners. Its duration of just over three minutes does not diminish its strength; on the contrary, the concentration of emotions in such a short span makes it memorable. The track flows with a cadence reminiscent of the romantic pop of the era, yet with a personal touch that sets it apart from other early-eighties releases.
This song is part of Directo al corazón, the singer’s second studio album, recorded in Mexico under the EMI Capitol México label in 1982. The production was overseen by his father, Luisito Rey, who gave it a polished yet unexaggerated sound. Interestingly, later reissues of the album altered details such as the cover —replacing the child’s image with a more adolescent version— or even the title in certain editions for the U.S. market, where it was marketed as Un sol under the Odeon label, though retaining the same songs in the same order. The album’s success in Latin America was notable, helping Luis Miguel gain early recognition in his career, something he would later solidify with awards such as the Grammy and Grammy Latinos.
