The story behind
Perro andaluz, according to DoReSol
When one delves into the music of Serú Girán, they encounter pieces that invite unraveling and understanding. Take *Perro Andaluz* as an example. What first stands out is its structure, one that defies convention, spanning a duration of 4 minutes and 58 seconds that unfolds with its own distinct identity. This song, born from the pen of Charly García, is part of the group’s second studio album, titled La Grasa De Las Capitales, released in August 1979 under the Sazam label.
The release of La Grasa De Las Capitales marked an important milestone: it was performed at the Auditorio Buenos Aires (formerly known as Ex Kraft) in September 1979. For this album, Serú Girán opted for a more direct sound, moving away from the orchestration that had appeared in their debut, Serú Girán (1978), which had not resonated entirely with the public. The approach became simpler and more straightforward. Even the album’s artwork, featuring a cover that parodied the magazine *Gente* and depicted the band members, reflected this new direction. This work was also recognized by *Rolling Stone* Argentina, ranking 17th among the best Argentine rock albums of all time.
