The story behind
Frecuencia modulada, according to DoReSol
In Frecuencia modulada, Serú Girán stripped away the most complex layers to embrace a more direct sound. After receiving their first work, the band opted for a simpler and more straightforward compositional path, leaving behind the orchestral experimentation that had marked their debut in 1978. This shift in direction is evident in the structure of the songs, which became more accessible, inviting an immediate connection with the listener. The song itself, with its duration of 3 minutes and 20 seconds, encapsulates this pursuit of sonic clarity.
This approach materialized in the album La Grasa De Las Capitales, released in August 1979 under the Sazam label. The official presentation of this record took place at the Auditorio Buenos Aires (previously known as Ex Kraft) between September 6 and 16 of that same year. The visual proposal of the album also reflected this new stage, with a cover that parodied the magazine Gente, featuring the band members on its cover. The impact of this work was such that Rolling Stone, in its Buenos Aires edition, ranked it at number 17 among the best albums in the history of Argentine rock. In 1994, the record label Diapasó would handle its reissue.
