The story behind
Oye mi amor, according to DoReSol
When you dive into *Oye mi amor*, you encounter an energy that invites you to move. The song, released in 1992, was the first single from the album *¿Dónde jugarán los niños?* by Maná. This album, which was released on October 27, 1992, became a milestone for the band, selling 13 million copies worldwide and being published simultaneously in over 40 countries. The sound of *Oye mi amor* falls within pop rock and Latin rock, genres that Maná has explored throughout their career, achieving great popularity that transcended borders, reaching places like Australia and Spain in their early days, and later expanding throughout the United States, Western Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The recording of *¿Dónde jugarán los niños?* had a particularity: it was the only album by Maná where they participated as a quintet. In addition to the usual members like Fernando Olvera on guitar and vocals, Juan Calleros on bass, and Alejandro González on drums and vocals, this album featured the addition of Iván González on keyboards and César López, known as "Vampiro", on guitar, who would later become part of Jaguares and Azul Violeta. These two musicians left the band in 1994, marking a specific stage in the lineup. *Oye mi amor* remained on the US Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart for six weeks, reaching position number 24 in February 2000. Years later, in 2019, Alejandra Guzmán re-recorded the song for her live album *Primera fila: La Guzmán*, a project that led her to tour through Mexico and the United States.
