The story behind

Noche de perros, according to DoReSol

When “Noche de perros” starts playing, Charly García’s bass and David Lebón’s guitar intertwine in a rhythm that never stops. The song moves forward with an urgency that makes every note count, as if time had been compressed into those six and a half minutes. It’s not a song you can just let play in the background: it demands your attention, and that’s precisely where its power lies. The opening riff—crisp and repetitive—acts as a relentless call to action, while Pedro Aznar’s drums and García’s keyboards give shape to a groove that seems to defy any conventional structure. It’s one of those pieces that, when you play it, you quickly realize there’s no room for error: the rhythm is unforgiving.

Recorded in 1979 for *La grasa de las capitales*, this album marked a turning point for Serú Girán. They left behind the orchestral arrangements of their first album and opted for a more direct sound, almost aggressive in some passages. The song itself was born out of that search: lyrics that sound like a warning, like something lurking in the night, and music that backs them up with that contained energy. The Auditorio Buenos Aires (formerly Ex Kraft) witnessed its live performance, where the band proved they could connect with the audience without any frills. By 1994, the record label Diapasó had already re-released the material, but the impact of “Noche de perros” always lay in its essence: a song that needs no explanation, just the desire to play it.
