The story behind

This song by Andrés Calamaro has an air between a nighttime ballad and rock with touches of nostalgia, where the guitar and piano intertwine in a rhythm that does not follow traditional measures. The track flows with a cadence that seems to escape time, as if each chord breathes before falling into the next. It is not a common structure in Argentine rock of his time, where more direct rhythms predominated; here there is a play with pauses and silences that give the melody a different weight.

Calamaro recorded it after years of moving between bands and sessions in Uruguay, where he played as a keyboardist in Raíces before trying his luck with projects like the Chorizo Colorado Blues Band or groups that imitated the style of The Platters. His time with Elmer's Band —alongside Augusto Gringui Herrera— and later with Stress —where he shared the stage with Gustavo Cerati and Héctor Zeta Bosio— left him with the experience of performing live with musicians who would later become key figures in local rock. This song, with its distinct atmosphere, seems to capture that blend of influences: the bandoneon from his childhood, the rock that led him to play in session bands, and the piano he learned with Osvaldo Calo. The 4:13 duration gives it room to develop that sense of rhythmic displacement without unnecessary length.
