The story behind

I still love you sounds like one of those songs that sneak in without warning and stay. It’s not a track that explodes with a single catchy riff or a chorus screaming “listen to me,” but it has something that hooks you from the first chord: a mix of melancholy and tenderness that feels like a whispered confession. The lyrics don’t take the easy route of forced rhymes; instead, they flow like an intimate conversation, with phrases that seem plucked from a late-night chat among friends who know each other too well.Calamaro recorded it years after bouncing between bands and projects, playing everything from blues to rock, including groups that barely lasted long enough to have a fixed name. Before becoming the Calamaro we all know, he was in Uruguay doing sessions with Raíces, trying his luck with short-lived bands like the Chorizo Colorado Blues Band, and even playing keyboards in groups that mimicked The Platters. But his path was set when Héctor Zeta Bosio invited him to join The Morgan, a band that also featured Gustavo Cerati. From there, he moved on to Stress, the group that would later become the seed of Los Estereotipos. By the time Te quiero igual came out, Calamaro had gone through enough changes to know that music doesn’t always need shouting to say something important.
