The story behind
Migra, according to DoReSol
The song Migra, with its duration of 5:28, emerges from a crucial moment for Santana. After a period without a record label in the mid-1990s, Carlos Santana began conversations with Clive Davis, who had already signed the band to Columbia Records back in 1969. The result of this collaboration, along with A&R Pete Ganbarg, was the album Supernatural, released on June 15, 1999, through Arista Records. The intention was to focus the music toward a more pop and radio-friendly sound, which materialized in an album that revitalized interest in Santana's music worldwide.
Supernatural became an overwhelming success, reaching number one in eleven countries. This album featured contributions from a variety of contemporary artists, such as Rob Thomas, Eric Clapton, Everlast, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Lauryn Hill, Dave Matthews, Maná, and CeeLo Green. The album's production was handled by K.C. Porter and Carlos Santana himself, while the recording engineering involved a team of professionals, including Mike Anderson, Steve Fontano, Jim Gaines, John Karpowich, and Jeff Poe, who also oversaw the mixing. The music for Migra was composed by Carlos Santana, Rafi Taha, and Tony Lindsay.
