The story behind

Mexico, according to DoReSol

The song *Mexico* by Incubus, with its duration of 4:21, is presented as a piece that invites exploration of the sonic textures that defined a particular stage of the band. The track was conceived by Alex Katunich, Brandon Boyd, Chris DJ Kilmore, Jose Antonio Pasillas II, and Mike Einziger, who contributed their visions to shape this cut. The recording featured the work of Tom Sweeney as engineer, while the mixing was handled by Scott Litt and Rick Will. The production, for its part, was a joint effort by Incubus and Scott Litt.

This track is part of the production of the band’s fourth studio album, titled Morning View, released in October 2001 through Epic and Immortal Records. This album marked an evolution in the band’s sound, moving away from nu metal to encompass a broader spectrum ranging from soft rock to more energetic rock, all within the alternative rock style. Morning View was the last work of Alex Katunich with the band, who would leave the lineup in 2003. The album, which included singles like Wish You Were Here and Nice to Know You, received critical acclaim and achieved double-platinum status, becoming Incubus’ best-selling album. In 2024, a regrabbed version of the album, Morning View XXIII, was released, featuring the participation of bassist Nicole Row.
