The story behind

The first time I heard Me pierdo, I was hooked by that guitar arpeggio that repeats like a whisper, almost as if the song refused to let go of the listener. It’s not a track that moves in a straight line: it has an ebb and flow that reminds you of those moments when you let yourself be carried by the current, without haste but without pause. The melody flows with a naturalness that seems improvised, as if Calamaro had captured something that was already there, waiting to be discovered. The bass and drums move in harmony that doesn’t seek attention but ends up being the backbone of the entire piece. It’s one of those songs you play over and over without realizing it, as if the instrument itself were guiding you.

Calamaro arrived at Me pierdo after years of moving between bands and styles, from his early accordion chords to the keyboards in Raíces in Uruguay. Before establishing himself as a solo artist, he went through groups like Elmer's Band and even replaced a guitarist in Stress, the band that would later give rise to Los Estereotipos alongside Gustavo Cerati. But in this track, the sound is pure Calamaro: unpretentious, with that mix of boldness and melancholy that defines him. The recording, just over four minutes long, sounds as if it were captured in a single take, without retouches that might strip it of its freshness. It’s a track that doesn’t need adornments to shine.
