The story behind

Mañana, according to DoReSol

La Vela Puerca wasn't always a name that resonated beyond Montevideo, but in that summer of '98 something changed. The band, led by Sebastián Teysera, performed at the Teatro de Verano and left a mark that led them to share the stage with Los Piojos and earn a gold record. That moment, captured between the warmth of the Uruguayan coast and the echo of their trumpets, was the prelude to what was to come: a song that, years later, would cross the Río de la Plata with force. The song Mañana was born in a context where Uruguayan rock was seeking to break through. Originally recorded in Buenos Aires and finished in Los Angeles, the album De bichos y flores —produced by Gustavo Santaolalla— hit the shelves in October 2001.

The blend of ska, reggae, and rock, with those winds slipping between the strings, gave the song a rhythm that couldn't go unnoticed. And though massive success came later, even then there was something in the air: a band that didn't ask for permission to sound loud.
