The story behind

Return to Forever recorded Majestic Dance in February 1976 at Caribou Ranch studios, near Nederland, Colorado, a place already smelling of legend for hosting sessions by Stanley Clarke and Chick Corea. The five-minute-and-one-second track is not just another cut on Romantic Warrior — their first album for Columbia Records after leaving Polydor — but the piece where the band decided to drop the "featuring Chick Corea" credit from the cover, as if the group, now consolidated, no longer needed introductions. Recorded live with gear pushed to the limit, the sound of Majestic Dance breathes that mix of technical precision and freedom that defines the jazz-rock of the era: Corea’s keyboards tangle with Al Di Meola’s guitar in a dialogue that doesn’t sound rehearsed, but like a conversation between musicians who know exactly where the edge lies.
