The story behind
Like Lovers Do, according to DoReSol
The song Like Lovers Do, part of Roxette's debut album, Pearls of Passion, was originally released on cassette and vinyl on October 31, 1986, in Scandinavia and Canada. This initial work by the Swedish duo, composed of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, was reissued on CD in 1997 with additional material and again in 2009. The duration of this musical piece is 3 minutes and 22 seconds.
Before forming Roxette, both Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle already had solid careers in their country. Gessle, in particular, had achieved great commercial success with his previous band, Gyllene Tider, reaching three number-one albums in Sweden in the early eighties. After the dissolution of Gyllene Tider in 1984, his solo projects did not manage to replicate that same reception. The recording of Pearls of Passion featured engineering by Alar Suurna and Robert Wellerfors, under the production of Clarence Öfwerman.
