The story behind
In La bruja (versión cancionera), Natalia Lafourcade doesn't sing about spells or flying broomsticks, but about that figure we all carry within: the witch as a metaphor for the woman who rebels, creates, and transforms. The song unfolds with a rhythm that oscillates between playful and mysterious, where Lafourcade's voice intertwines with choirs that seem to whisper from a distant forest. The track stands out for its organic structure, with dynamic shifts that move from intimate to expansive without warning, as if each section were a scene from a live ritual.
Recorded at Sony Music Mexico studios in late 2024, the version we hear was born on analog tape during three weeks of intense sessions. Eighteen musicians played simultaneously, without cuts or digital corrections, aiming to capture the magic of the exact moment. The production was led by Lafourcade alongside Adán Jodorowsky, who had previously worked with her on De Todas las Flores. The result is a six-minute piece that breathes authenticity, where every instrument — from strings to winds — seems to converse with the singer's voice, as if the studio itself were another character in the song.
