The story behind
When REO Speedwagon released Hi Infidelity in November 1980, they not only presented their ninth studio album, but also gave the world one of their most recognizable songs: Keep On Loving You. This ballad, which became the band's first number one on the charts, is a cornerstone of that album that resonated strongly in the United States. The particularity of this piece lies in its ability to evoke a feeling of unconditional surrender, a sentiment that deeply connected with the audience.
The album Hi Infidelity, released by Epic Records, proved to be a phenomenon, reaching the top spot on the Billboard 200 and remaining there for 15 weeks. It was, in fact, the best-selling album of 1981 and received 10x platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Among the singles that emerged from this work, in addition to Keep On Loving You, was Take It on the Run, which reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, showcasing the band's creative strength at the time.
