The story behind

Jugo de luna, according to DoReSol

In Ahí vamos the sound of Cerati leans into roughness, yet with a brilliance that doesn’t stay on the surface. Jugo de luna is one of those songs where the guitar stretches as if breathing, and the bass sets a pulse that refuses to be confined to common time signatures. There’s a moment when the track breaks: a brief silence before everything falls back into place, as if the song itself breathes between notes. It’s not a production trick, but something that sounds natural, as if the recording had been a rehearsal that aired unfiltered.

The album Ahí vamos was recorded in 2006, when Cerati had already moved beyond Soda Stereo’s frameworks in search of something rawer. The record was released in April by Sony Music, and in Argentina it sold out before even hitting stores, earning platinum certification from advance sales alone. In Mexico it also reached gold status, but what’s most striking is how Jugo de luna —clocking in at 4 minutes and 7 seconds— slipped into radio play without needing to be the lead single. While Crimen took home the Latin Grammy Awards that same year, this track stood as an equally memorable yet more intimate counterpoint.
