The story behind
When Rubén Blades released the album Antecedente in 1988, it marked a return to salsa roots. The band accompanying him, previously known as Seis del Solar, was renamed Son del Solar, and on this occasion, trombones took center stage, replacing some synthesizer parts. Blades himself produced this work, seeking a sound that, in his own words, had been distorted by older recording techniques. The album was well-received, reaching number 8 on Billboard's Tropical Albums chart and also winning a Grammy award in the category of "Best Tropical Latin Performance".
