In 2001, the Spanish version of the album, Entre tú y mil mares, was nominated in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammy Awards. In its release year, Tra te e il mare sold 5 million copies, and to date, it is estimated to have sold 5.5 million physical copies.
