The story behind

When you dive into *International Lover*, you encounter a piece that captures the essence of seduction through bold metaphors. The lyrics imagine an aerial journey, where the artist presents himself as the captain of a ship called "Seduction 747," ready to offer everything the body could desire. It is one of the first examples where Prince focuses on an intimate experience with a loved one as the central theme of the song. The way he deploys his vocal range, moving from low tones to high falsettos, is remarkable and shows a facet of his expressiveness.

This song, recorded on January 14, 1982, at Sunset Sound Recorders studios, is part of the double album *1999*. It was the last track included in that work. The composition and production were handled by Prince himself, who also took care of the arrangements. The recording engineers were Don Batts and Peggy McCreary. The release of *1999* marked a turning point, catapulting the artist to greater public notoriety and laying the groundwork for a period of great success. In fact, for *International Lover*, Prince received his first nomination for the Grammy Awards, in the category of Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
