The story behind
I Call Your Name, according to DoReSol
When you dive into *I Call Your Name*, you encounter an energy that departs from the original album version of *Pearls of Passion*. This version, released as a single in 1988, was retouched by Frank Mono to give it a more powerful feel, with more pronounced guitars and heavier drums. It's interesting to note that, although the album debuted in 1986 in Scandinavia and Canada, this specific track saw the light of day as a promotional cut in January 1988, reaching countries like Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. The song, written entirely by Per Gessle, also had its moment in 1997 with a promotional reissue in Spain, the *I Call Your Name '97*, which reached number 25 on the country's airplay chart.
The duo Roxette, formed by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, already had a career in Sweden before joining forces. Gessle, in particular, had enjoyed great success with his previous band, Gyllene Tider. The production of this track, like much of the material on the album *Pearls of Passion*, was handled by Clarence Öfwerman, with recording engineering by Alar Suurna and Robert Wellerfors. The album itself, originally released in 1986, was reissued and remastered on several occasions, including CD versions in 1997 and 2009, sometimes with added material.
